Political Action Committee
NECA’s Political Action program collects funds from personal contributions within the industry and distributes those funds to worthwhile candidates on the Federal, State, and local level. We regularly meet with these politicians and help educate them on the issues important to us as an industry. This also helps us to establish the relations we need to have when we need to respond to potentially damaging legislation that is sponsored each and every year.
Our primary means of raising funds is through two very separate means. The first is the annual PAC Fundraiser that is held each fall. This event is a great dinner with a lot of fun fundraising activities. It is truly a wonderful evening of fun and the proceeds all go to help the industry. Our second means of raising funds is the Voluntary PAC. This is a voluntary program in which we are asking you and your employees to consider contributing two cents per hour towards our PAC fund. Based on 2,000 hours of work in a year this would generally be about a $40.00 contribution annually. This new program is a very valuable and potentially powerful tool. It is very easy to get people to commit to two cents per hour and it is really not a hardship on anyone. If we can reach the Chapter goal of 80% participation with 1,700 people in the field the annual amount we would collect would be $54,400.00. As a short term goal the Chapter is asking all of our contractors to work toward a goal to get at least 50% of your employees to volunteer to make this contribution by the end of this year.
